Futura `Call My Name' (Way Out West Vocal Mix) out April 3rd on Blanco y Negro The blazing debut release from Futura is a joyous blend of progressive house and trance. `Call My Name' is the product of a dynamic fusion of talents between the essence of songwriter/producer Gilbert Gabriel and the groundbreaking and acclaimed force of Way Out West. The track is a postmodern union of ambient influences fuelled by a spacey, trance beats, complimented by the serene vocals of Rachel Ayers and multi-layered hypnotic rhythms. Futura is the evolutionary brainchild of Gilbert Gabriel, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist who's diverse CV makes impressive reading - composer of music for films including a track for The Beach film score, Ivor Novello Award nominee for Best Dance track in 1997 (for `Sunchyme'), as well as co-founder of The Dream Academy who had a worldwide hit in the `80s with ` Life In A Northern Town'. Futura was formed in late '98. It rose from the ashes of musical experiments with various singers and musicians which resulted in the creation of a multimedia outfit alongside DJ Jody (Way Out West) and filmmaker Nigel Karikari. Way Out West - Deconstruction duo Jody Wisternoff and Cream resident DJ Nick Warren - gained cult status with their own highly original material including the massive single `The Gift' (No.15 in '96), and by remixing for the likes of The Orb, Orbital, Dubstar, and The Lightening Seeds. Gilbert tracked down them down and began writing and recording with Jody. The reaction to the record has already been amazing and it's set to ignite dancefloors around the country. It recently went down a storm when unleashed in Bristol's Lakota club and is already slated for release in the US. It's picking up fans on a nightly basis with the likes of Seb Fountaine amongst others slotting it swiftly into their sets.
